Proswinter driveing, towing, highway gas mileage, all wheel drive Conscity gas mileage, all wheel drive, complicated electrical system

Decent Truck — Its a decent truck. It has a inline 6 cylinder (4.0 liter) that will tow pretty much tow anything. We have a 17 foot boat and two four wheelers and it pulls both of them well. The quadra trac (all wheel drive) is nice and makes it handle less like an suv. It can get expensive to drive with a city average of 14 mpg and 22 hwy and it takes 6 quarts of oil each oil change. Its a great truck if you have something to tow every once in a while and great in the winter.

Maitianance Maitianace — I bought this car for $240. engine knocking transmission slipping! With 144k miles serviced trans, installed brake pads machined rotors all 4 wheels. Drove for one year and 11k miles. Found 1998 grand cherokee with front end damage, 52k miles paid $500. swapped engine, transmission, transfer case, four doors and rear hatch. Complete interior, carpet, seats, dashboard, headliner, all electronics, computer, wiring, dual air bags, seat belts. I know have 58k miles on a 95/98 jeep and i could not be happier! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Jeep — Performance - The engine has great power, and will run forever. Build - An utter beast. Appearance - Kind of dull, but the blockiness grows on you... Cost - Mileage is poor, but maintenance is limited. Fun Factor - Easily handles most anything you can throw at it, just don't expect it to be a baja truck... Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Jeep Is The Best — This is an all around great vehicle for off road, daily driver, winter beater or anything else. Fast off the line, comfortable inside, there's a reason Jeep is known for building the best SUV's on earth. Downside is that some are known for electrical problems and the paint on mine is terrible. ProsThe 4.0L AMC 242 I6 is amazing and is not a huge gas hog when it's running properly and get's the listed or above highway MPG. ConsThe 4WD is quite complicateed to get back into 2WD, the driver side door is to heavy for the hinges and the pins to handle and has been fixed atleast 2 times.

1995 Jeep Grand Chreokee Laredo — This Jeep was given to me by my mom who did take very good care of it. The actual jeep itself is very sound but a lot of little things in the electronics have gone bad such as the stereo and the alarm fuse had to be taken out because it would go off for no reason. It runs great but the body is rusting badly because there are not enough drainage holes in lift gate. Over all I would be happier to trade that in and have my old 1993 Cherokee Country back running right or trade it in for a 5-speed Wrangler with the AMC 4.0 HO, which was in my old jeep. Mainly because the jeep itself is far to fancy for me and it has nearly everything added but a moon or sun roof and a glass lift on the lift gate. The sound system is amazing when the CD player is working properly which has no display screen now, so I cannot get a FM adapter to use on my iPod. But all the technology that is in it now at the time like alarms, best sound system available, were all new technology at the time and it's 14 years old so it's prone to go bad, but still somewhat upsets me. ProsI can see over cars while in traffic. Great stock paint quality. Conspoor fuel mileage, no 2wd mode, unreliable transmission.

It's O.k. — The engine is fine. Not a lot of power, but I've read in a couple of places that it's pretty trusty. The Quadra-Trac I "4x4" system is not too reliable with this much age on it. With over 160k I suspect I'll be replacing something soon. I would like it more if mine had the transfer case with a two wheel drive setting. My upholstery is a kind of gray mouse fur, and the dash is all gray and black plastic. It's an o.k. truck

Ok, Not Great - Many Problems — bought this car because I needed a good car for the snow. Frankly, I should have simply bought an audi. The build quality was terrible, handles like a mack truck, bad gas mileage - overall not much good to say about it. Over the 3 years that I bought it, the air conditioner went, an axle bearing went as well as numerous other annoying problems. While not a huge investment, I think I bought it for $28k or so, it just was not the right car for the situation. Frankly the next car I bought - an audi s4 had far more to offer (better handling in the snow, better gas mileage, far better reliability and generally just a hoot to drive. So, unless you really need an suv (in which case I'd recommend a toyota 4runner) get an All wheel drive audi - far more fun.... Owner for 3 years, 0 months Miles Driven per Year:15,000

ProsLove it! most fun car ive ever had and will gladly buy other Jeeps in the future. Consthe power windows don't work, rear passenger door stuck closed, speedometer works when it wants, power mirrors work halfway, defroster sucks on the side windows.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Great Car! — My 1st Jeep, i bought it with 145k miles for $500 bucks and itg runs absolutely great! Has most options available but not all work anymore such as the power windows and the right rear passenger door is stuck closed but the body looks very nice and was well worth the money. It really pulled through and saved me during the blizzard of 2013, very fun car. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Bias Jeep Lover. — Have to admit this is my 3rd Jeep and have loved every one of them. I am also buying another used one very soon. I have had some problems with diagnosing some of the mechanical issues with these SUV's, but have gotten twice as many miles out of them as my other non-jeep vehicles.

Not A Beauty Queen But It Never Lets Me Down. — This Jeep has been a very reliable vehicle. I have always liked the look of these Jeeps. Nothing fancy but looks like it could handle anything in it's path. There are some noises while driving but thats too be expected in a SUV. Acceleration is gradual but feels powerful. Solid Braking. I feel Safe putting my family in this vehicle and driving almost anywhere. Primary Use: Commuting to work |
