1995 GMC Sierra 1500 K1500 SLE 4WD Extended Cab SB Review
ProsReliability. Performance. Toughness. ConsInterior Fit & Finish. That's about it.
305
Big Green.... Truck — It is a Z71 with 240,000 miles on it. Performance: 0-60 in 11 seconds. Brakes decent, but so heavy it brakes slow. Handling is not bad. Tightened torsion bar so turns are a bit tighter. Build Quality: A rock. Few squeaks/rattles, but overall solid. Appearance: Beast. Cost of Ownership: Gas mileage is 11. Minimal maintenance. Fun Factor: A blast to drive. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGood, strong work truck. ConsHeavy on gas with the 350

Reliable Pick-up — Love my truck. Good power and strong when in the snow and the 4WD is engaged. Comfortable even on longer drives and not too bad on gas when driving on the highway. Body is lasting and it can take a beating. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsRear wheel drive makes everything better ConsDo plan on switching the 305 out with a 350, or a 383 Stroker.

Review A 1995 Gmc Sierra — 307 small black with a good fuel millage from time to time. Braking when the brake system works is stops great. handling remember its a truck not supposed to be going through turns at 120 with a pick up. this truck does hold the road better then some cars.. Needed some repairs but nothing major just the miscellaneous. It got an aggressive look and looks damn good going down the road. Interior is nice but i would wish it was a crew cab with leather seats and all. but i love the truck it is a fun vehicle to drive. Very exspensive. gas millage is about 16 city and 18.5 high way. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsRoaring engine. I've outrun lots of tuner cars in it. Honda owners beware. ConsRepair costs are quite costly, if you get replacements if what I've already put into it. Nearly 5 grand just in the tires and lift.

Big Red Beast — This truck is a beast! With a Supercharged V8, this thing is a muscle car inside a pickup. I got a speeding ticket just earlier tonight as a matter of fact, haha! No that 's not a good thing. It's a little weathered, but not too bad. Some things definitely need to be oiled. Doors and such. But as far as driving it handles like a pro. Good acceleration, the top speed is epic. The needle will bury at 100mph in a little over a second. I've had one tire blown completely to smithereens. So I replaced all the tires with custom Morrisons with a Z tread with a price tag on them of over $600 a piece. Stock-cap chrome rims, bumpers and side-steps gleam beautifully when it's washed. A 2-inch Skyjacker kit completes the look. Along with SJ hard suspensions for some serious off-roading. Inner-specs you ask? I haven't replaced the stock CD player yet. It's been a good little piece of crap. Nothing compared to competition systems, but will still kick your ears out if your not careful with the volume knob. A custom ECU prevents it from stopping when it gets loud enough. It will literally go as loud as you want it to until the point that the speakers all explode in unison... 6 4 1/2" speakers can get pretty loud at times. So, you'd pretty much have to see it. It's pretty impossible to sum up such an amazing piece of machinery in words.

Bigred — Great truck! I don't think they make them like this anymore. 350 V8, open-element KN Filter, TB Spacer, Racing Fuel Pressure Regulator, Flowmaster, Hypertech, makes it a lot of fun to drive and surprises a lot of wanna be "racers" at the stoplights. Can't believe the truck is going on 17 years old with never a real issues - just change the oil, brake pads, ect and it keeps going like the day we drove it off the lot. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsExcellent power, 4x4, comfortable interior, superior handling, durabile body, unstoppable on or off road ConsParts prone to terrible rust, transmission problematic, expensive to maintain towards end of life, considerable cost at the pump

Best Vehicle I Ever Owned — Was my fathers truck before it was mine, he used it as his daily driver and for hauling construction supplies on and off the jobsite. He owned it for 14 years, then passed on to me when he got a new vehicle. I used it for the same purpose. Best truck I ever drove; no lift, but I felt like I was sitting on top of the world when I drove her. I had no complaints about this truck, except the cost it took to maintain it towards the end of its life. A lifetime of corrosion due to salt and hard winters got the best of it, causing the transmission to split in half! I didn't have the money to repair it, otherwise I would have. I dearly miss this truck, and would buy another one just like it in a heartbeat. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsLOVE the extended cab! I'll never go back to a regular cab. ConsMileage, parking it. It's pretty damn large.

My Truck — With the 350, (5.7 Lfor you metric types), there is plenty of power. I'm a little concerned as such a big truck only has 5 bolt wheels! It's needed regular maintenance items such as brakes, a water pump, and some gasket re-sealing, exhaust system, but nothing out of the ordinary for something that's 16 years old. I did have to have leaking engine oil cooler lines TWICE! Wasn't happy about that, but must be how they're made. No rust as of yet, looks good, no real rattles or squeaks. Traction sucks, but all the weight's on the front, and also the awesome power just bakes the tires, heh, heh! Gas mileage sucks in town, at about 12 mpg. It gets better on the highway at about 20 mpg. Don't ask me what that is in litres per 100 kilometers, it has as much meaning to me as saying it gets X number of pussy cats per kilopascal. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
