Pros35 MPG + in the city, 39 MPG on the highway (it's a five speed); roof rack, station wagon. Not too many frills. ConsWho dreamt up a vehicle speed sensor that pours transmission oil into the passenger compartment when it fails?

Suprisingly Great On Gas. — I bought it from a family member who was the first owner. At 130K, and seventeen years of age, it's now going through its change of life. I hear that they can turn out to be fairly durable... but I'm not sure that I have the patience to find out the end of the story. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Nice Little Car For Leadfoot. Lol — It was a great car, fast, reliable, had a good amount of room for being a small car. Manual control. Had no power windows or seats but was still a fun car to drive, fix up, and husband loved it even more when the muffler got changed to make it louder. lol Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

1995 Ford Escort — Excellent running car. Over 200,000 miles and counting. It has needed several minor repairs over the past two years but this is to be expected with an older vehicle. It runs very well and gets great gas mileage! Overall it's been a great vehicle and it's reasonably entertaining to drive too! | ||

Pros5 Speed, lots of cargo room, back seat folds down, good air conditioning. Cons88 Hp, no CD, air conditioning shaves 7 mph off top end bringing it to 81, cargo rating of zero.

ProsExcellent simple design, low purchase & repair costs, rear seats fold down easily, plenty of used parts available, great fuel efficiency (29-37 mpg), great visibility in all directions, manual transmission lets me squeeze out power when I need it, great cargo space and room for five passengers. Seating is very comfortable for smaller people like me. I drown in a lot of standard large vehicles that are made to fit large men. ConsOften not enough power, rough ride, starting to get rusted out.

Great Value — Great overall car. I have only had minor issues with it since I bought it in 95. I have put 165000 miles on it and the only wok other than maintenance has been replacing the timing belt. I will buy another ford escort I think in the future. Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

If You're Alentejano (very Calm Person) Buy This Car!... — Slow car but economic. Enough handling and nice driving feel. Despite some plastics, it has strong construction. For the price, the design and looks are ok and it's big enough for the family. If it was today I'd choosed the 1.6L, but only if it was LPG/GPL moved... Primary Use: Family transportation |
