ProsFull size ford tires will fit it. ConsIt can't take half a dozen hits to the front end. Oh and don't cut too many wires, it can get you into trouble.

Not A Bad Choice. Good Luck Finding One In Good Shape Though. — The Intrepid debuted with a lot of hype, representing "The New Dodge." In reality, it is just plain average. Average acceleration, braking, and handling. Build quality showed typical deterioration, and the front end wasn't as strong in the demo derby as I had hoped it would be. Some people thought this car looked cool and futuristic, I just thought it looked edgy and weird (generation 2 intrepids look much better IMO). Gas mileage was similar to other cars in it's class. If you have one of these with high mileage, expect a few large expenses (like suspension components, bearings, brakes, possibly a transmission) but aside from that it was pretty reliable, didn't have sludge issue like gen 2 intrepids. Not particularly fun to drive, but had cool dash and gages and good visibility, so it was sort of neat to drive. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Excellent Power, Style, And Handling, Would Love To Own This Car Again! — Performance- was wonderful, the 3.3 liter base engine was perfect for 31 mpg highway and had plenty of power to merge on the interstate with a/c on! Loved the sound it made as well! Build Quality- was excellent, the dash fit together nicely and for the year it had a beautiful readout! Appearance- loved it!! It was sporty and mean looking for a four door sedan, never should have stopped making them! Cost of ownership- perfect, aside from general mainenence never had to replace anything until after 120,000 miles!!! Excellent car! then it was simply the alternator and other general maintanence for the mileage Fun Factor- Excellent, always thought I was in "my own car" it had its own personality, like there wasn't one like it! :) Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Exceeded My Expectations. — I'd always wanted a Chrysler LH car, and finally found a good deal on one. It exceeded my expectations in just about every area. Handling was way better than I expected, as was gas mileage, and performance. Only thing I didn't like were the brakes. They seemed under-assisted with a very heavy pedal feel. Performance grade brake pads helped tremendously, but having drum rear brakes still made it a weak point. I had gotten as high as 33 MPG with it, and averaged in the high 20s. I had the base 3.3L V6, which was all but indestructible. Only failure it ever had was a water pump at 160,000 miles. Only reason I sold it is I wanted something more mod-friendly, and performance parts for an Intrepid were nonexistant. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Prosquick off the line gets desent gas milage Consold and needs repairs

Brad's Car — It's got good acceleration handling and braking it is older so it has needed repairs and will need some bodywork, but that's to be expected on an older car it gets pretty good gas mileage about 20 in town so it could be better but it could be way worse. Only thing I'd change is throw a manual tranny in it for more fun, and more tickets! |

Lives Forever — I've had this vehicle for over two years now and put on 24,000km and of relatively hard driving and the only thing i had to replace was 2 spark plug wires that my buddy ripped out. The thing is still really fast for a four door (i got it up to 190km/h before limiter kicked in). Really nice ride compared to other cars of the same value. There's nothing really wrong with it; its a decent car for you and 5 friends. Owner for 2 years, 0 months Miles Driven per Year:12,000 |
