1993 Ford Thunderbird SC Review
ProsThe best car i could ever ask for. Consthe one thing i hate is the ammount of workspace. there is next to none!

Float Like A Butterfly. Sting Like A Pissed Off Bee! — Performance. The acceleration is spectacular the torque from the supercharger is a terrific feeling. For how heavy and bulky the car is it doesnt lack much handling disadvantages. I also have a 2002 Mercury Cougar and i feel my 3800# thunderbird could easily out handle it. Build Quality. I has needed general repairs i.e. brakes tires rims stuff like that. and has also had a complete engine rebuild at 155,000 miles but was done to build the engine to where it can handle more pressure from the supercharger. The engine is now designed to where it will handle more power than the block. Appearence. The exterior needs a paint job but its black on black leather interior with full power options that includes dual power front seats a cd and tape player combo everything factory in the car. Its is a very sharp and sleek car of its time and i believe they were selling for more than a new mustang now is selling for. Cost of Ownership. The cost for parts and the attempt to find parts is stressful but can be done easily at the same time. My superchicken averages 23 miles to a gallon on 93 octane fuel which is better than most compact cars produced today! and i am pushing over 350 horsepower and 400 pounds of torque! Fun Factor This car is extremely fun to drive because i can have all the beauty of an aged car and all the power of a new sports car. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsFast, fun to drive ConsCheap interior.

Great Looking, And Really Fast — Although the interior felt cheap, and the rear wheel bearings liked to fail often, this car was an amazing machine. The 3.8 was responsive, and the 5-speed Automatic made for a thrilling ride. It was fast, and handled itself very well. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsRWD and factory 5.0 HO 302 engine, very powerful and sporty but still maintains the classy and luxury feel. ConsNot as popular for aftermarket parts as the Mustang although a lot of engine parts are shared. Headers, etc. are specific to the T-bird only and will not cross over due to design differences.

Classic Lines, Great Feel, All American Style. — I was really impressed by the overall power, performance, and handling characteristics that this car is capable of. While it is not as much of an all out performance based car like the Mustang are, it is definitely capable of holding it's own. Very comfortable, 2 way power sunroof, came with 7 way factory JBL stereo with factory subwoofer, leather interior, climate control, air bags, power seats, quite a few of the amenities. Always liked this body style when they were brand new but wasn't able to get one until a few years ago. Very glad I happened upon this one. I have the solid white one, white trim, white mirrors and blue leather interior. Always been a Thunderbird fan. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Prosa pretty unique car that is definitely NOT a dog. when it was new, the supercoupe would ALWAYS beat the mustang (in both stock form) in teh 1/4 mile. Surprisingly there's a pretty decent sized aftermarket for these cars. Consright now im battling exhaust leaks 24/7 because the kit i ordered from mandrelexhaustsystems.com ...it wasnt exact so there's fine tuning to do.

Very Tuneable. — pretty sweet performance wise. very fun with a stock 300 ft lbs of tq. Had to upgrade rear tires because of that to 275/40/17's instead of the stock 225's. VERY challenging to drive in the rain with the stock tires. stock car had LOTS of wheel hop but not nearly as much anymore with bigger tires/new suspension components that were worn out. ie bushings/axles. parts are cheap ...cuz its a ford. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

I Love My Car Its The Paint That I Hate — I love driving my bird and I have fun everytime I crank her up luckily most parts arent that expensive so working on it is less stressfull on my wallet. oh yeah and that exhaust when I crank her up everyone loves it Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsApperance, Build Quality and Horsepower ConsEngine Quality and Brakes

Great Car If You Keep Up The Maintence — I loved this car from the moment I set eyes on it, and mind you I was 5 years old. My parents bought the car to replace the van they had and I couldn't be happier. When I was 16 it was finally mine. We did have to replace the engine, but it was in a tbone accident and the front end looked as if it had barely been touched. The get up and go was good and it looked amazing inside and out. The brakes went fairly quickly. Primary Use: Family transportation |

Its Amazing — it runs amazing on the highway and the acceleration is pretty okayy. brakes are good and the shocks are good too only the muffler rattles but no big deal interior- leather seats exterior - cloth roof top, trunk rack, fog lights only 86,000 miles on a 1993 ford thunderbirdd. this car is AWESOME to drive! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

I Miss My Old T-bird — Didn't like it at first when I first got it, but now, I miss her!!! lol I dropped a 5.0 in mine, surprisingly didn't see quite as much change as I was hopin for, but on the higher end, she had a lot more get up n go. I didn't do anything else to it though, if I had put a K*N filter on it, I bet it woulda been a screamin eagle!!! Unfortunately I was a high-schooler on a tight budget. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

93 T-bird — I have a custom pain job on my car and it looks amazing. It runs good, but needs some work on the brakes. So far though I have not had any cost into the vehicle. But I love this car and it is a shame that I had to get rid of it Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |
