Ford Explorer — Okay for pulling a boat, somewhat reliable. Used to use it for pulling the boat to go scuba diving. Wouldn't pull a boat without a 4x4. Got plenty of use out of this vehicle and miles. Tranny went around 185000 miles but only because someone didn't add fluid. Started slipping and then fianally went and junked it. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Fun Old Family Wagon — My mom bought this car with a little over 80,000 miles on it about ten years ago. The frost plug went and she drove home as far as possible till the motor was freezing up. we put in new plug and it lost power but still runs. We pulled campers while it ran red line hot and accelerator on the floor for 25 miles on the highway one way multiple times. We sold it to my aunt who took it to Chicago and Kentucky and i bought it back with 177,000 miles on it. It starts on first time and takes me wherever needed. Makes a good second family car. Performance is weak but thats just the build of the cars. Its a gas hog but i love driving it. only car all my friends can fit in and i can haul steel and what not in the back and it rides smooth. Very pleased with this car. For People interested in older explorers i would definantly recommend. they expensive to drive but the longevity is worth it.

ProsOf all the cars that I have ( a total of 3) had, I love this one the most! I have always wanted an Explorer and when my uncle told me that he could get me one, I was really excited. I paid 1200 bucks for it and have had to put very little money in it. I have only had to replace that battery and the air intake unit, which was a total of about 90 bucks. She gets cleaned out every week and washed about every other week (weather permiting). ConsShe has a little bit of body rust, but other wise she runs like a top and has not let me down yet.

Tough And Very Reliable! Wouldn't Trade Her For The World! (unless I Really Had To) — The overall car itself is unbelievable! My uncle that works for Wingards in Elton told me about it and said it was well maintained and was owned by a former mechanic. The interior is in great shape and hardly has any wear or tear ( i can honestly say there is none). The trim package is an XLT, unfor. not the Eddie Bauer edition though. This model has power everything including a sunroof! The exterior is red and has a little body rust up around the wheel wells and around the gas tank lid. The handling, performance and overall impression is very good, as I previously stated, I would not trade her in for anything! My Explorer is a great car and will turn 1 this year July (14 in car years) .

A Great Overall Truck I Love My Fords! — Nice riding truck looked great, Tons of cargo space when you folded down the backseats just loved the overall look and sportyness of the 2 door backed up with the 5 speed manual tranny, The only downside to the truck was a design flaw with the 5 speed tranny that caused the demise of the transmission from leakin fluid while driving,, but not when parked....... Primary Use: Commuting to work

Best You Can Buy For The Current Price Range — Most bullet proof rig ever.. 200,000+ miles on the original, factory transmission and motor. Never had anything major go wrong. Most extensive stuff i have done is a transfer case, starter, spark plugs, and alternator. The 4X4 is almost unstoppable, I have never gotten stuck in any terrain, and that includes going to work in January of '09 with that 70+ inches of snow on the ground.. The Explorer plowed right through it all the way up Sunset Hill and down Geiger Rd. If you have a 1st generation Ford Explorer (1991-1994), the only things you will have to worry about is changing the fluids and brakes. The brakes wear rather quick on these is the only downfall.. But just don't ride your brakes like a Grandma and you won't have that problem to frequently!! The 4.0 Cologne V6 motor still has a lot of balls left for having 200,000 miles on it. Once the motor goes out (if it does) ill be rebuilding it to go another several 100,000 miles!! Primary Use: Commuting to work

Dont Buy An Explorer, Any Year — has a good v6 power for its size, but lacking in acceleration, 4x4 was good when it worked, the gas price was bad for a v6, ball joints, ac, cruise, and 4x4 all went bad after 130000 miles not fun in the summer. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Blah — Good looking but a piece of crap from the beginning. Always breaking down, horrible gas mileage, a pain to fix. Was not worth the money paid for it. Great to beat on and destroy though. Almost blew it up on accident and holds a lot of people. Primary Use: Family transportation

I Love It ^_^ — I bought this Explorer because I never really used my pickup as a "pickup" The only thing I usually "hauled" around was friends, and that got cramped, so now I have a 2 dr explorer that i can seat 5 in comfortably. Not to mention the 4.0 V6 anf 5-speed really has some pep compared to the little 2.3 4 banger I used to have Primary Use: Commuting to work

It Is A Great Car!! — I like that is has plenty of space and is comfortable. It is very nice with a 6 cylinder engine. Only thing is the fuel enconomy. It gets 15 city 18 hwy. Not bad for an old car like that! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
