1989 Ford Mustang Lx Sport 5.0l Convertible — Very good power and a well-proven, reliable platform. As with most Fords though, the styling leaves much to be desired. Braking is marginal ... it has rear drums. As mentioned, very reliable; just keep the oil changed and new tires as necessary.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

5.0 Baby. — 5.0 V8, Trick Flow upper/lower intake, BBK 70mm TB, ARP heads, FRPP B303 cam, Comp Cam roller rockers, stock headers, 2.5" straight pipes to Flowmaster 40 series, no cats. Stock T5 with a Hurst Shifter. 3.73 in the rear. Loud, fast, and it's needed a lot of work. I'll admit it's not the most beautiful of the Mustang breed, but parts are plentiful. And it is good at getting attention.

Bought The Car From An Older Man Privatly, With 73,000 Miles On It. — I love how i ripped out the oridional 302 motor and put a 351 windsor, bored 30 over, roller cam, off road H pipe, pro 5.0 shifter, tinted windows, custom wheels, with a custom stereo system in the hatch.

Pros

I just bought this 24 year old car from original owner with 160,000 miles.  Maintained by dealer all these years from a lady who bought it new and sold it to me. Except for faded back seat due to the sun, this car looks and drives like new.  2.3 litre 4 cylinder good enough for me. I did put in a new CD stereo though.  My mechanic checked it out and said I was a lucky Baby Boomer.  Bright red and a real head turner.  I paid $1,500 for it and everything had been gone through: Interior like new, battery, clutch, engine tuned up, wiper blades new, heater core new!
5 speed manual trans.

Cons

I don't know if I would have picked an automatic version. When the trans goes, time to throw away the car. So I like the stick shift, cheap to replace.

This 1989 Ford Mustang 3rd Generation Is Great ! — The bright Red paint job is remarkable. Glitters like it is brand new. Good mileage. Buying a used car for $1,500 that is shiny Red and runs like it is brand new is a rare find. Almost as good at the 1957 Ford Thunderbird I owned when I was 16 in 1962. I paid $700 for that one. I would like to have both now ! But, I got a new Red 1989, 3rd generation LX model! I am retired now and just cruise in my Mustang.

Amazing Cruising Convertible — I defiantly love this car. It has a very strong 5.0L V8 engine that gets great mileage and sounds awesome at full throttle. Never needed a repair. Typical Pony Car body lines. in my opinion it has the perfect ride, steering, performance and "feel" to be one of the best muscle car cruising convertibles.

Fox Body Original — Great car with the venerable 5.0L engine. Owed since 1991. Over 400,000 miles later it still starts on first crank. Modfications: 130w alternator (3rd gen), A/C runs R-134a. Gas Mileage: 25 HWY, 13 City. Performace: Quick off liine, smooth on Highway. Apperance: Needs paint on hood, headliner, upholstery repair. Otherwise no rust or corrosion

Too Fast For Your Own Good — Whats to say? Built in my garage, everything has been updated or changed out. Damn quick, rides like its on rails. Needs paintwork desperately. Soon to come in the future, once finances allow it, for now its a garage queen.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Fox Convertible — I love driving this car in the summer. It handles great, has good acceleration because it is a five speed, and looks good with the top down. It is also surprisingly good on gas. All in all I love this car.
