Covettes Are Americas Sportscar.like Gold Chains...buy A Viper. — For being 20 years old, my Corvette is an awesome Value. The car will only go up in price. It Drives well, braking could be better,I will update this, corners very well.Mine is put together well,I'm the 3rd owner, tops are a problem not a cheap fix.Mines Red and never fails to get a thumbs up ,still sharp even today.Premium fuel, mobil 1 oil,It's a Sportscar,it goes with the turf. Fun,My Shetland Sheepdog(Alice) loves it,you can't buy a better endorsement than that.I have a Spitfire and an MGB,Alice likes the 'Vette best.(so do I)

Pros

For the age of the vehicle, it looks and drives like new. People admire the flowing lines, sound of the engine, and the fact that it is a true American sports car.

Cons

This is not a practical family car and maintenance costs can be expensive.

All American Fun! — This is my first Vette, something that I dreamed of since high school. Now that prices have come down, I was able to get into it for less than $5k and it has only 80k miles. It also has the 6-speed manual transmission, selectable ride, leather, targa top, and power everything. The 240 HP along with the incredible torque, highly reactive steering, and low stance is enough to give any driver a thrill. For a 350 V8, this car is getting 20 MPG, better than my wife's little SUV with a 6 cylinder.

Great Car — Beautiful look car, still looks the same as when it was delivered. White top & plastic window still like new. Superb acceleration, handeling and braking. Fun to drive. Great gas mileage on the highway. A bit harsh on bumping pavement. (european ride quality)

Primary Use: Family transportation

Excellent Handling And Fun To Drive. — I have completely restored my 1989 Coupe inside and out. It has excellent power, braking and is just and all-around fun car to drive. Parts and service are easy to get. I recommend this year foe older Corvette enthusiasts.

Cons

Noisy engine

The Coolest Car I've Driven — My dad's cousin was nice enough to let me take her Corvette for a spin. After having driven a Corvette, I am bumping the Buick Regal from #4 down to #5. What I liked as much as the performance was the digital gauges, I'm surprised more cars don't have them today.

Pros

This is my first Corvette.  I have been the caretaker for 17 years.  It has been a fun car that has never let me down.

Cons

The only negative that I can think of is that it seems to go through an alternator every six years or so.  Everything else is normal maintenance.

This 1989 Corvette Convertible Is A Great Car. — This car gets great gas milage on the road (best I got was 29 mpg on a trip to Corvettes at Carlisle). It handles great and will do 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds. It is more comfortable than I thought it would be on long (5 hour) road trips. The power seats are fantastic.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Acceleration and handling

Cons

Poor chassis rigidity and overall lack of quality.  Expensive to repair.

Looks Good, Ran Good, Handled Good, Made Me Crazy With Quality Issues. — Great handling, fast, seemed lighter the faster you went. Six speed shifter was fantastic. Too flexible, too many things go wrong, ride extremely harsh with many rattles and shakes. Only kept it 5 years. Trade in allowance just about paid for the Miata.

Hard to get out of if your tall

I Love It — I love the way it sounds, how it takes off and how if you go to 100 mph you dont even fill it. The only bad thing about my car is if your tall its hard to get out of.

Pros

Just purchased this car. Engine/drivetrain in very good condition. Getting tuneup, new injectors, serp belt, Bilstein shocks, vented brakes & Michelin tires. Car has loads of options. Too many to list here. Biggest plus is that I got it cheap ($3500).

Cons

Car has been neglected for the past 1-2 years. Has some body damage: front hood clip and wing need replacements, ground skirts need repair, but car will be completely stripped and sanded down to primer and repainted. Needs new interior carpeting. Leather seats are intact but power seat needs some repairs, steering wheel may need replacing, stereo unit (and probably speakers) are toast. Under-hood and under-dash electrical has issues.

'89 Vette - Diamond In The Rough — Although it still needs some work, this is a great car to DRIVE and that's what I plan to do with it; take road trips and put some miles on it - not restore it to show-car quality and just garage it. Really fun to do research and learn about the car, too - almost as fun as driving it. I've obtained the original owners manual (invaluable), The Corvette "Black Book", and have gotten tons of help from online forums. One person put me in touch with the Corvette Museum in KY, where I was able to order the original "build sheet" and "window sticker" for the car, which had NO paperwork, at all. I do what work I can, myself (detailing, interior work) and for the rest of the work (mechanical, electrical, body work painting) I'm having done at a local shop as well as at Corvettes of Auburn, a Corvette specialty shop near Seattle. Have also been obtaining needed parts online - both from parts houses (Ecklers, Mid-America, Corvette Central, etc.) and private parties. Have learned that it pays to shop around. Have joined "Corvette Forum", online, and have gotten some great tips. People are always eager to listen and help! In all, a great Experience!
