Pros

felt safe, sounded good with subs. despite all the problems, lasted me 30,000 miles.

Cons

boaty, brakes, radiator, engine, shocks, alot.

Cougar! — i had alot of problems with this car, leaked oil and antifreeze. brakes warped. power window came off track when i first got it, brakes failed once and broke the brake fluid container, shocks were bad, felt like a boat. new engine at 90,000. blew head gasket at 150,000miles. i guess that kind of stuff happens to a car after 20 years. and the fact that its a ford.

Cons

Great Car With Alot Of Potential — great looking car with alot of modification potential, handled good for a mid size car. The LS had ALOT of options including car phone! alot of power options and with the XR7 you get the 5 liter V8! i would recommend to anyone!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

1988 Cougar Xr-7 — Black XR-7 5.0 auto. Great gas mileage, awesome performance. Didn't have to make an appointment to pass on the highway. Very economical in my 130 mile daily commute. Comfortable driving position minimized fatigue on long trips. I wish I never sold it!

Pros

Cheap, reliable, easy to find parts for.

Cons

Kinda slow, age, not exactly art.

Good Car To Mess With. — Lots of Torque, heavy but with good reason, the car was loaded for 1988. Best thing about it, it was built on the fox chassis. So most 79 to 93 mustang parts would fit. Mileage was good on the highway thanks to 2.73 gears in the axle, but in town left something to be desired.

Pros

Great body lines, ran strong, good gas mileage for a car its age, handled nicely, im 6'2 and had decent interior space, EVERY Power option you can imagine including a car phone and key-less entry pad on the door

Cons

Special tools needed to replace certain parts.

'88 Was A Good Year For A Fox Body Cat — I loved this car, this was my 1st car.. the motor was a 3.8L V6, had decent power and overall pretty solid, the entire time i owned it, the only thing that needed replacing was a power steering pump which required a special tool. I owned that car for a little over 1 year and at times wish i kept it. I had a stereo system in it, a strobe kit in the reverse lights, headlights and interior as well.

My First Car — It worked for as long as it could have been expected. The comfiest seats ever, but a lack of cupholders was distressing.

Pros

Pros picket it up cheap and amazing on gas

Cons

Its just not the same as my old cougar, i liked that one better. I want that one back i miss the roar of that v8.

Best $300.00 Bucks I Ever Spend — This is the second cougar I have owned and this one is the lesser model, but still a good car. I picked it up for $300.00 2 and a half years ago and so far only had to change the brakes. This car handles amazingly, has low kilometers and has a like new interior. She has a 3.8L EFI v6 that can get 800km to a tank highway driving.

It was a gift

Cons

Minor scuffs here and there.

Rare Find! — "If you can get it started it's yours" This is an original, untouched 88 Cougar... It's nothing overly special, but with only 57 000 kms.... Pristine paint and interior... who could say no? It was given to us by a relative who hadn't driven it in over two years..... The car has a fully loaded burgandy interior... 3.8 litre V-6... And has spent it's entire life kept in doors when not driven... As soon as winter breaks, it's off to Ron and Bills for some minor paint work....then back on the street for some more Klicks!
