I Bought Mine For $1000 Fixed It Up For Another $1000 And It Was Well Worth The Money. — -Performance- Fast acceleration, great braking, awesome handling. -Build- They hold up well as long as you take care of them. -Appearance- I love how they look. -Cost of Ownership- Not great gas mileage. I worked on mine myself and it was easy to fix plus the parts usually didn't cost much. -Fun Factor- Of all the cars I have driven this one was my favorite, it was extremely fun to drive.

Perfect Starter Car For Someone Into American Muscle Cars With A Average Budget. — The Car is a 1988 Camaro Iroc-Z L98. I wanted a Camaro ever since i first saw them when i was little. Once i turned 13 i started saving up ever penny. I even skipped lunch at school some days so i could keep the money to add to the "Camaro Fund". The Day i turned 16 was the day I started looking for a camaro to call my own and car after car there was no luck. It look me 1½ years to find this one and I know I'll never part with it, it is my first car. I found it up on Windham Mountain and after looking at it I knew it was the one, bought it a week later and drove it back home down the mountain during the giant blizzard we had on December 2nd, 2009. The Iroc is all original even the paint is from the factory, with the T-Tops, decals and Fog lights. There is no rust and everything is clean. It still has it's #s matching 5.7L 350 TPI which was only rebuilt 3 years ago by Jaspers, only 19,000 on it now. The only true change was the previous owner painted the hood louvers red to match the decals and honestly i'm loving it. The Car still has some kinks i need to work out, but when you think of it, all cars especially ours has their own ticks and in the end it's one of the reasons we love them.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

1988 Camaro Rs — Great looks, good handling, t-tops are great for summer, fun car to drive. 2.8L V6 is anemic and weak. Get a V8. Breaks often, but it was a used car. Fun to drive with a V8, V6 is boring. Great car if you love american muscle with big brawny V8s. A 383 would make any camaro a screamer.

A Piece Of American Muscle Car History. — Jet black with silver trim, T-Tops, and a spoiler, this car was gorgeous from any angle. The stock 305 couple with a 700R4 automoatic transmission was weak, but when I upgraded to a 350 4-bolt, with an Edlebrock intake and Eldebrock exhaust, this car was amazing. There was nothing that could touch it. It sounded wonderful, and handled like a dream. Excellent gas mileage for the class.

Pros

Body style, handling, and speed/accelleration of higher gears.

Cons

Transmission, clutch, piston rings, and mpg.

Great For Cruising Fun, But When Beat On Too Much... Repairs Come Into Play. — Great handling. Acceration after 2nd gear is good. Common problems for me were the piston rings, clutch, and transmission. The transmissions on these cars were not for sport cars at all, but more for 4 cylinder sedans. So as you can see if you update the tranny and rear end, nothing could stop you from fully upgrading the engine after that. Gas mileage is terrible... 14-18 mpg, but fun to drive and easily spotted by cops.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Having Something Rare That Any Clown With A Little Dough Can't Just Go Buy !!!! — In 1988 Chevrolet Only Produced 3,761.... Mine Is All Original, It's 20+ Yrs Old & Have Only 122,000 km's, That's Only 75,000 Miles. There Are Hardly Any 3rd Generation ('82-'92) Camaro's (Of Any Kind), On The Road, Never Mind A Iroc-Z Convertible.... SWEET SUMMER FUN !!!! THIS VEHICLE LOOKS, SOUNDS AND DRIVES LIKE NEW !!!!

Overall — The performance is all around great, I had a set of 3.73 ring and pinion gears in it and it had very nice acceleration...little too twitchy, though...it would lite up the 10" wide tires at any speed. I put a set of 2.73 gears into it so I would get better mileage on the 40 mile (each way) drive to school. It doesn't accelerate as fast off the line, but once it gets up to about 25mph, it's smooth sailing. I know it will outrun the '08 Mercedes SLK. The handling is all around amazing: tight turning (especially for a 16' car), it hugs the road perfectly through any turn and at any speed. Overall the fast response turning, great speed, great acceleration, and fine-tuned 5-bolt suspension make this car as close to perfect as most people will ever be able to afford.
