Its One Of The Best Produced Hondas In The Market — Alright, 87 Honda Crx Si, this car ahd to be one of the best cars Honda had ever made at the time. Their were Beating on Porsche 944 in the Racing scene back in the 80's. Even tho they had the power and felt like a race car, it still got great gas mileage. It takes 15 bucks to fill this car up with Gas and it last long. These cars are really fun to drive because they have so much power for having a little 1.5 Ew4 d15a3 engine. This car hasnt needed any engine repairs since ive had it in 2000. And for my car being in a few accidents from previous owners and its still holding up its a great car to have. Also, these cars have a mind of their own! |

Awesome Car — its a great car besides it is hard to find stock parts. great on gas and fun people always look at it as i drive by. the performance is not as good as it can be i am out to tweak it and make it run some like new. its built pretty well except the front fenders crack easily. |

ProsA blast to drive, small enough to park anywhere, corners like a slot car, great on gas and cheap to run. Consit's getting rusty and is not the most environmentally friendly car out there (no emissions equipment)

Best Bang For The Buck — For a 24-year-old car that has been primarily an autocrosser since 1997, it's doing fantastic. Amlost 200,000 km and it (amazingly for a Honda) burns no oil. My CRX (a Canadian-market 1.5) is a non-emissions-equipped carbureted model with a 2-barrel Keihin carb and no catalytic converter. This car, even though it is a racer, is incredibly cheap to run. Mileage is awesome; C$30.00 fills the tank from empty and I regularly see 325-350 km per tank in city driving. On the highway mileage increases by almost 30%. Typical for a Honda, the maintenance requirements are almost non-existent. The car cost me $1000 to purchase and, despite having sat for two years before my purchase, only cost me $300 to put back on the road. This CRX is a blast to drive. I have owned over 35 cars and this is one of the most fun cars I have ever had. It is beginning to rust (again) and will need some floor repairs after this winter but overall I can see me having this car for yers to come. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

The Best Honda Ever — I had an si model in Rio Red and it was a blast to drive. Its cornering ability was simply amazing. It could whip around corners and the rear end held every time. It could have used more horsepower and driving it during a snowstorm in Alaska was an experience - but with snow tires it actually got around pretty well. It had one odd problem that I was never able to solve. Somehow water leaked into the car and pooled up on the floor behind the passenger seat. During a heavy rainstorm the water got deep enough to start leaking into the computer mounted under the passenger seat. After driving it for ten years and 151,000 miles I sold it to a mechanic at the local Honda dealership. He couldn't find the source of the leak either. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Proscheap everythying (car, insurance, parts, gas, everything), rare vehicle Consrusts wayyy too easily, sparse aftermarket support, limited used parts, rapidly declining in numbers

Crx — $300 beater that i bought shortly after selling wagon. powered by same 1.5 SOHC 12V carb inline 4. low on power, but also low on weight. car is very very peppy for its low power output (close ratio five speed) dependable car until the head eventually blew and cracked. Great interior layout, but very spartan. reasonable nimble handling, but limited by prehistoric suspension set up (torson bars) cheap insurance, cheap parts, reliable honda. Rusts kills it and also poor maintenance. easy to find this car on the road, as CRXes in general are quite rare... first gens are even rarer. declining numbers due to rust best to purchase 1.5 Si (injection) model over the S (carb) Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsCute, peppy, with Prius-level fuel economy ConsParts hard to find, plastic front fenders breaking up after 20 years

87 Honda Crx Hf — HF model, for High Fuel (efficiency.) Cute as a bug's ear, reasonably peppy (as opposed to the conventional CRX, which is fairly hot,) 50 mpg on the highway. The reason I sold it is that they didn't make all that many of them, and after she got old enough to send out for beer on her own parts were getting hard to come by. |

Freaking Sexy Is The Bottom Line — Acceleration is good, with a 4banger car the redline is at 6.5, non vtec. appearance needs work, i dont plan on putting any HUGE ricer spoilers on it, or insane body kits. just sandblast and paint. original parts, gas comes to an average of 44 mpg, which for a 23 y/o car is pretty impresive. its a fun 2 seater. FASHO!!! |
