Easy Project Car. — 350 TPI, hedman headers, ported and polished heads. soon to be 406 small block w/ aluminum heads, expecting 400 ish HP and 500 ft/lbs. 3 inch drop springs. 17 inch wheels. Interior is in great condition. Loud as hell

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Love — It is primer grey and it runs 110mph in a quarter mile with final drive ratio factory set at 2.73. The interior needs some work yet still the matenace is very cheap for I do it all myself, and it gets 24 mpg.

If Going With A 3rd Gen Camaro, The Iroc-z Is The Way To Go. — 3rd Gen Camaro's are a great ride with a few quirks. the overall handling is fantastic, and when running a stage 2 Hypertech chip instead of the factory chip (computer located under passenger side dash... easily accessed by laying upside down head on floor) you can get good pwr increase and good economy even with a 350 w/ cam.

Good Car — a good car that runs good but does not have the size engine i want. i have used this car as an everday drive, and it is very dependable. The car is wired for a large sound system in the hatchback.

Cons

Great Car, Highly Recommend — Great first car...great platform to build on. Handled like it was on rails. Anemic motor/rearend. Factory motors are horrible, but throw an LSX in, it'd be great. The tranny's arent bad (T-5 or 700R4) but a T56 would be my choice. Build quality is typical 80s GM with rattles and whatnot but not much you can do about that...overall a great car with huge aftermarket support plus they look fantastic.

Fantastic Black Iroc Z — This is my generation of cameros, so this car is a classic to me....always garage stored and never driven in the rain. Its a car that my family and I love to take out of the garage on a nice sunny Sunday or to a local car meet.....just a pleasure to own and drive

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

it has a good sound to it an a nice classic

Cons

1. is its too heavy. 2. it has a subframe. 3. they come with small motors.

Its Nice Car To Have — the perfamce on this camaro is pretty good, it comes with a nice handling pasckage. the acceleration is horrible on this car because it is heavy. the apperance on the exterior is great other than little scratches. The interior is in okay condition it needs 2 new seats an headliner thats it. I paid $800 for the whole an it ran like crap an looked like crap but all that changed wen i got my hands on it. This car is fun to drive around because it turns alot of heads.

L98 V8 Ruled That Year. — I only had the 1987 IROC for a little over a year,I opted to buy one with the L98 engine package and at that time it was a great deal of money. So I finally had to sell it because I could not afford the car payments and the insurance both.I was only 19 years old at the time so the insurance companies had alot of fun charging me around $2000.00 a year for coverage. But I loved that car.The L98 5.7 Lit. TPI. produced 225BHP@4400 and 330 ftlb of torque@2800. In other words when you kicked it HOLD ON. There were many other engine opions that year for the IROC but the L98 was the fastest of the bunch. The LB9 was only 215HP,and came with the 5.0lit 305ci engine. And you could go all the way down to the LG2 5.0lit 305ci with 170HP with the 4bbl or 190HP with TPI. This was a car that I still regret not keeping. If your a lucky enough to get one in good condidtion hold on to it.With a little work and some after market performance parts you can get 350-400 HP and really have some fun.
