Terrible — My first car. It was used and I got it in high school. What a piece of crap. I had to learn to wear seatbelts at an early age, since if you didn't in this car you'd go flying through the windshield every time you stopped since the tranny would seem to drop into low instantaneously as you slowed down. No power, handled like crap, but hey I was 17 and I guess I had to learn on something. |

Ford Escort Xr3 — One of the original hot hatches. Proper retro looks & feel. Puts a smile on your everytime you drive. Cheap to run & buy & parts are everywhere. Enthusiasts all over the place who always help out. Only downside is the dreaded rot & not as well built as a MK1 Golf..... but no where near as expensive! |

An Escort From The 80s. — The Ford Escort I own is of the 80s look ("MKIII"), metallic silver, a 1.6 GL model. It's not very comfortable compared to new cars, but it takes us from A to B without hassles. It's fun to drive in the sense that you don't have any driver's assistance; no ABS or stuff like that, so you really feel what's happening on the road. I plan to sell it, since it's fully operational and I have another car waiting for me... :) I'd say the build quality is rather good - this particular car isn't very rusty at all. I've seen worse cars that's 10 or 15 years newer. |

Dependable — had a 4 barrell and I could drive it absolutely anywhere in anything.. when big 4-wheel drive trucks got stuck in the mud, this car killed 'em. never ever got stuck in snow... it was dependable to get me back and forth from Evansville to Indy, just boring |

An Excellent Little Car. — The car is a 1982 Ford Station Wagon with just over 33,000 miles. It was bought new for $8,000. Other than normal maintenance on brakes, etc we have only need to put in gas and oil. Like other comments would raher have the horn in the center also wold have preferred the wiper control and turn signal control be on opposing sides. The only thing that has happened really is that the back steel chrome bumper has rusted at both bottom corners. Efforts to get a replacement have been fruitless. Might have to see if the corner portions could be cut out and rebuilt and chromed. Owner for 24 years, 7 months Miles Driven per Year:1,100 |
