1977 Chevrolet Chevelle Overview
The 1977 Chevelle was the last of its model, as 1978 would see the Chevelle name dropped and replaced by the Malibu.
No big changes for the 1977 model: the base engine remained the 250-ci six rated at 105 horsepower. The top engine was a 350-ci V8 rated at 175 horsepower.
The engine is easily tuned for today, and these numbers can be increased. However, the car remains quite heavy, so car needs to be taken in tuning the engine to achieve maximum performance.
Buyer beware: the manual warns, "Operation in dust storms may require an immediate oil change." (p 5-3)
