Pros

Great starter project

Cons

Rust everywhere and no real restoration business for body parts out there

Fun — Great Classic car for restoration fun. These are getting harder ot ifnd but still way easier than their 60`s counter parts. They make a great cheap alternative to a 67 chevelle maybe not as pretty but just as cool.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

A Boat With Wheels — Performance - acceleration Slow, one wheel wonder, tall gears, top speed 138 build quality - Chevy - small oil leaks - A/C still works appearance - Smooth curves, custome Seats out of a 75 olds 98 Cost of ownership - MPG 15 but what would you expect from a small block 400 Fun factor - you dont see many in good shape

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Very versatile platform. They are big enough to be comfortable cruisers, yet small enough to still have fun in. Suspension is above par compared to similar year vehicles, so much so that it was used until 1996 in the Impala SS/Caprice. Handles better than predecessor out of the box & can be modified to keep up with modern cars. Took the car on a long road trip (3hrs one way) & never got fatigued. Very comfortable.

Cons

Not enough power from the factory, but that can be fixed. Try to keep away from 305 cars. I've owned both a 350 & a 305 powered 76 Chevelle & the difference is amazing. Neither had a lot of power, but the 305 was just too small to put in these cars. Also, the factory bumpers are too heavy. Notice that I tucked mine in & dropped about 75-80 lbs in the process.

Fun, Comfortable, Underappreciated — Well the pros and cons summed up a lot of what I had to say. Definitely a car to consider along with their cousins. Out of the nearly 40 vehicles that I've owned, 73-77 A Bodies hold a spot in my heart. Having owned 8 A Bodies from different eras, I can honestly say that they outperform 68-72 cars hands down in every category but power & that can be fixed. Check out the G3GM forum for tons of info on these cars.

Like Sitting In Your Living Room At 70mph. — My parents bought this car brand new in '76. It was the primary family truckster for 8 years taking us all over the Eastern Seaboard and Canada with very few complaints other than it's tiny trunk for such a large car. I started driving it when I was 16 and fell in love with the way it drove and rode. It's the quintessental land yacht and perfect for road trips, just don't ask it to corner very hard and you will be rewarded!
