1976 Chevrolet Chevelle

The 1976 Chevelle continued to be offered with a variety of engines, as well as a variety of sizes.  The new Chevelles were intended to seat six adults comfortably while still undergoing a slight reduction in size.

The wheelbase remained rather large at 112 inches for the coupe and 116 for the sedan.

The base engine remained a 250-ci six rated at 105 horsepower, while the top engine was reduced to a 400-ci V8 rated at 175 horsepower.  These cars can be tuned for more muscle today, but for their day were considered slower: too much weight for too little engine.
