Pros

Classic model, first year Cougar. Power steering, styling

Cons

Unpredictable headlight doors. Poor mechanical design. Sequential taillights did not work due to seized cam motor. Expensive replacement parts. Frustrations led to sons losing interest in the project.

'67 Cougar — Some features were ahead of it's time due to lacking technology. For example, the retractable headlight doors were pneumatically actuated, having rubber hoses connected to air tank with engine compressed air. The hoses age, crack, and leak, causing door(s) to fall while driving at night. Also, sequential turn signal taillight concept was cool but cam motor easily seizes from corrosion, causing turn signal lights to fail. Both problems are easily resolved by today's electronic technology.

Kc — Not made for the fainted heart about thrust and speed. I loved this car it is like my DNA is in all the components. All and all it is the awesome car. I can't ask for a better muscle car. I would like to add air condition in the near future of coarse it is not for day to day driving.

Something Different — I like the looks and performance of the car as well as the rarity of Cougars in my area. Great car to go cruising with. Has plenty of get up and go, a fun car to drive. Have made many of new friends with the people that talk to me about the car.

Pros

Old cars are fun and not many people have them.  The Cougar is kind of an over looked car so it gets a lot of attention.

Cons

It cost a lot to restore.

Old School Fun. — This was my Uncle's car. He stopped driving it in the 70's and it sat in his backyard in Arizona until I got a hold of it in 2005. I did a complete nut & bolt restoration over the next 7 years. It is now back on the road ready to burn rubber.

Pros

I may be single-handedly killing the planet, but that exhaust note is so worth it.

Cons

The fact that this car is old enough that it's actually carbureted means that it can be fairly hard to start, even after priming it.

If You Can Afford To Run It, This Car Is A Dream Come True. — First if all, I want to say that I love this car. When you drive it, there is a real sense of occasion when I drive this car. It's fun to drive too. The power steering makes it very manageable. The engine sounds amazing, simply hearing it makes my day.

Retirement Project — Been through years of driving these cars, and most times would rather drive and work on this old thing than anything else out there today. There just aren't many left. And it has more refinement and style than a Mustang. I have been waiting for them to come back, it was a cheap trick to kill them off, andgive the sequentials to the ford, iI will miss them.

Good Car. — Acceleration is slow, but that's to be expected, as it's not a perforance package. It's held up pretty good for 43 years, it's built nicely I'd say. It's fun to drive, especially since I so frequently get waves, honks, and comments on it. It's a nice classic.
