Great Car. — This is another one of my projects I bought to fix up and sell, but ended up giving it away as a Christmas present. When I got it it wasn't running, didn't have an interior and the doors trunk lid and bumpers were shot. It had a 283 in it that I rebuilt. The transmission just need the linkage hooked up to the shifter. I installed new carpeting in it. I took the original radio apart and got it working again. I got the majority of the interior parts as well as the doors bumpers and trunk lid off another Chevelle that was all original. I installed a dual exhaust, replaced the hood with an SS hood, redid all the brakes entirely, and I sanded down and primered it. Got to ride in it a few times, definitely one of my favorites.

1967 Chevelle — They just don't make cars like this anymore. This car is solid and it is gorgeous! My hubby and I spent 11 years restoring this car and we now enjoy it in the spring and summer with our kids and at local car shows.

I Would Love To Have Another One — i rebuilt it while in school ,it was mine , had a 375 horse 396 with the muncie m-21 4 spd. and 370 rear gears .would turn rubber in 2 gears and chirp 3 and would go. it was just to hard not to do a burn out at stop signs and lights

Pros

Straight line power house.

Cons

You'll lean into the curves and ask everyone in the car to do the same like a bobsled team.

It's A Car Club Favorite But I'm Not A Muscle Car Guy So I'm Biased In My View. — The picture here was the best from the net and the closest to the one I drove. I'm sure that this guy's SS is probably superb in every way. The one I had yesterday had faulty wiring, some bad interior trim, the engine could've been cleaner, though it has a lot of power and a great roar. I prefer the European classics & refinement over most of the American Icono-classics (I love old vettes, t-birds & pre 50's). So I won't go into the minuses with this puppy.

Pros

styling is classic muscle; V8 torque is unmistakable--pins you in your seat; parts are extremely easy to source and the aftermarket is huge; easy to find a mechanic; easy to work on; the trunk is huge

Cons

well, no safety features outside of lap belts. you're pretty much screwed in a wreck; turning or stopping at high speed is out of the question. this can all be upgraded, but costs for this can get expensive fast for quality parts, which you should always use. not a "set and forget" car.

Detroit Muscle. Can't Really Say More Than That. — there's not much you can say about this car that hasn't been said about oil tankers--it's huge, powerful and takes a mile to stop. still, this is a fun car to drive as long as you don't have to turn or stop in a hurry. throw safety out the window, this is all about style. the car is pure character, from the throaty exhaust to the grandma-style guages. classic design lines from a time when cars were unbridled.
